Overview
The Universal Compass (universalcompass.org) is a static visual atlas published by John Dowbiggin. We do not require accounts, sell products, or knowingly collect personal information from visitors. This policy explains the limited information that is collected automatically when you view the site.
Information collected
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate site usage: pages viewed, time on page, country-level location, device type, and referring website. Google may set cookies in your browser to support this measurement. We do not collect names, email addresses, or precise geolocation through this site, and we do not link analytics data to any individual identity.
Server logs
Our hosting provider and content-delivery network (Cloudflare) maintain standard server logs that include the requesting IP address, user agent, and timestamp. These logs are used for security, abuse prevention, and operational diagnostics, and are retained for a limited period.
Cookies
The site itself sets no first-party cookies. Google Analytics may set cookies (typically _ga and similar) for analytics measurement. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, install Google’s opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or enable Do Not Track in your browser.
